Week Two Adventures

As parents we have survived nearly two weeks. We feel as if we are ten years older. Our bodies hurt, our minds are weak and our adventures have a whole new meaning now. Yet, this new life with Baby Ivin is a great thing and we're glad to share it with you.

This weeks recap...
  1. Trying to pat the pillow to sleep to stop the crying, Ivin is in the other room in his crib reminding us it is time for breakfast.
  2. Dodging bodily fountains in the wee morning hours only to receive a knee full of poop.
  3. Less laundry, but more soaking of poop stains pre-laundry.
  4. If it is spit up on, it can be reused - multiple times in fact.
  5. Sleep deprivation makes for interesting dreams.
  6. Pottery Barn isn't as sympathetic as they make themselves to be. But, if you call enough places you can find what you need - hopefully.
  7. Ivin can burp on cue, when requested by mommy - full-on-Homer-Simpson burp with mouth open and particles flying.
  8. Patting around the bed looking for the baby to calm him, when in fact he is in the other room crying to remind us that it is time for a midnight snack.
  9. Ivin is growing well, he gained his baby weight back plus some in under a week, when it takes normal babies two weeks to do the same. However, 9 month olds can still crush him.
  10. Ivin loves to fall asleep on walks and drives in the car.
  11. Mommy and Daddy love to fall asleep on walks and drives in the car, and all times in between.
  12. Our friends, family and neighbors can cook some really good food and are more than willing to share with the sleep deprived.
  13. Mommy and Daddy have some great song writing skills, including an amazing knack for making up lyrics on cue.
  14. Mommy and Daddy can be Nervous Nellies when Ivin is around sick children.
  15. It's tuff to listen to a little guy cry, even when you know it is good for him.
  16. Little guys can cry - really loud and really long.
  17. Eventually, he goes to sleep.

Thanks to all of you that have visited us, and for all of you that have waited to visit us. We've had a great steady flow of people excited to meet Baby Ivin. We don't blame you, he is the son of a hand model.

  1. I'm glad the weeks going well. I think he looks great.
I'm a nervous Nelly around sickness as well. It's why I don't let the baby out in public for 6 weeks!!!
    It's worth it.
So far, so good with my kiddo's.

  2. Brings back memories. Now imagine all that physical work turned in to mental work when they are teenagers. Don't think about it.

  3. he is so handsome! Don't worry the interesting dreams will go away. I had worse dreams with Talia then I did with Rivka. It's amazing that you can think they are right there with you when they are in the other room. Congrats, love the pics!!
